VECONAC GENERAL ASSEMBLY OPENS AT CAMBODIA’S PEACE PALACE — STRENGTHENING REGIONAL COMMITMENT TO VETERANS

PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA | 5 OCTOBER 2026.
The VECONAC General Assembly officially opened this morning at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, bringing together veterans’ representatives and delegates from across ASEAN.

The Opening Ceremony was officiated by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, who delivered an address emphasising the Government’s strong support for veterans and recognising their contributions and sacrifices in service to the nation.

Representing Communication 21 Media Group at the Opening Ceremony were Dr. (h.c.) Benny Yeo, Founder, and Mr Wilson Tay, Group CEO.
The ceremony forms part of the 38th Executive Board Meeting and 25th General Assembly of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) being held in Phnom Penh.

The Prime Minister’s message on supporting veterans carries particular significance as VECONAC continues exploring how its long-established regional relationships can also contribute to the economic empowerment and continued participation of veterans and veteran-linked business communities.

Over the preceding days, the 4th VECONAC Business Forum has focused on moving from regional relationships and digital-platform development towards practical business implementation.
Discussions have included strengthening national business focal points, connecting enterprises and products across ASEAN, improving business matching, using digital technology and AI, expanding access to trade exhibitions and markets, and developing bilateral and multilateral commercial opportunities.

For Communication 21 Media Group, this direction closely reflects its longstanding work in trade and industry promotion, business internationalisation and China–ASEAN economic cooperation.
Communication 21 has committed its marketing and market-connectivity capabilities to supporting the developing VECONAC business ecosystem. Its digital business-connectivity capabilities are supported by Catalog Connect, including structured business discovery and AI-enabled business matching.

Dr. Benny Yeo said:
“Veterans have served their countries and contributed greatly to the peace and stability that our region enjoys today. Supporting them should not only be about recognising what they have done in the past. We should also look at how regional cooperation, business networks and technology can create new opportunities for them and their wider communities in the future.”
As VECONAC continues strengthening cooperation across the region, Communication 21 believes there is considerable potential to connect trusted regional relationships with business, technology, trade, industry and international markets.
