Desay Battery Brings World-Class Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to Malaysia

Supported by Communication 21 Media Group’s ASEAN-Connect & China-To-ASEAN Initiatives
KUALA LUMPUR — As Malaysia accelerates its clean-energy transition, Desay Battery, a global leader in battery energy-storage systems (BESS), is entering the Malaysian market with a full suite of grid-scale and commercial/industrial storage solutions. The national rollout is spearheaded by Interface Solution Sdn Bhd in collaboration with AMBC, and strongly supported by Communication 21 Media Group under its flagship ASEAN-Connect (东盟互联互通倡议) and China-To-ASEAN (中国至东盟倡议) Initiatives.
This collaboration reflects Communication 21 Media Group’s mission to strengthen ASEAN-China industrial partnerships and drive the adoption of advanced technologies in clean energy, aligning directly with Malaysia’s energy transition priorities.
Built for Malaysia’s roadmaps: MyRER & NETR
Malaysia’s Renewable Energy Roadmap (MyRER) targets 31% RE by 2025 and 40% by 2035, while the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) identifies utility-scale energy storage as a flagship priority. Desay Battery’s solutions fit squarely within these strategies:
- Grid-scale ESS (containerised): Safely store surplus solar/hydro and discharge at evening peaks to enhance reliability and dispatchability.
- Commercial/Industrial & microgrid: Rack-level BMS/EMS and Desay Battery’s active-cell safety architecture for factories, data centres, and industrial parks participating in NEM/VPP schemes.
- Smart-grid integration: An integrated EMS for demand-side management, remote monitoring, and real-time control—consistent with MyRER’s enabling initiatives.
Why BESS now
With rapid solar additions, storage is essential to balance intermittency, shave peaks, regulate frequency, and defer costly network upgrades—enabling higher renewable penetration without overbuilding transmission or backup generation. Malaysia’s policy framework also supports investment via GITA/GITE incentives, while competitive BESS tenders can catalyse cost efficiency and scale.
Communication 21 Media Group has consistently emphasized Green Technology & Renewable Energy (GTRE) as one of the seven priority industry sectors within its ASEAN-Connect Initiative. By featuring and supporting this rollout, the Group underscores its role in advancing regional energy transition agendas.
Safety, scalability, speed
Desay Battery’s active-cell BESS platform combines multi-layer safety, modularity, and fast deployment. Systems are engineered for local conditions and can be rapidly sited at solar farms, wind sites, substations, industrial zones, and data centres—accelerating time-to-value for asset owners and grid stakeholders.
Voices from the industry
“We are proud to introduce a world-class BESS platform that supports the government’s energy transition strategy and delivers real benefits to Malaysia’s grid, industries, and future economy,” said Mr Khong, who officially represents Desay Battery in Malaysia under Interface Solution Sdn Bhd, and is leading the national rollout of this initiative.
Dr. (h.c.) Benny Yeo, Founder of Communication 21 Media Group, added:
“The entry of Desay Battery into Malaysia represents the kind of industrial collaboration that ASEAN-Connect and China-To-ASEAN were created to support. By bridging leading Chinese enterprises with ASEAN markets, we accelerate regional transformation in critical sectors like renewable energy and digital infrastructure.”
